About ExpertCalculator

ExpertCalculator builds accurate unit conversion tools that working engineers, students, and curious people actually trust. Every conversion factor is verified against primary sources. Every page is reviewed by qualified engineers. Every formula is published with its citation.

What we do

ExpertCalculator is a free reference site for unit conversion. We cover length, area, volume, weight, temperature, time, and finance — eventually thousands of conversion pairs across hundreds of units from metric, imperial, nautical, astronomical, and historical measurement systems.

Every page is built from a deterministic data pipeline: conversion factors stored as exact rational numbers in a database, rendered into HTML with engineering-reviewed explanatory content, and validated by automated checks for math precision and content quality before publication.

How we're different

Engineering-reviewed

Most conversion sites are scraped, automated, or generated by people without the technical background to spot subtle errors. ExpertCalculator is authored by an engineering professor (Sunith Babu L, Ph.D.) and independently reviewed by a senior engineer (Girish V Kulkarni Ph.D.).

Source-cited

Every converter page cites five distinct authoritative sources — BIPM, NIST, the 1959 Yard and Pound Agreement, the IHO, the IAU, and others. We tell you which standards we use so you can verify our work.

Math actually verified

Our build pipeline includes an automated math validator that re-derives every displayed conversion factor from primary unit definitions and fails the build if the relative error exceeds 10⁻⁶. No conversion factor on ExpertCalculator was eyeballed.

Honest about uncertainty

Where conversion factors are inexact (historical units, US Survey Foot before 2022), we say so explicitly with an "approximate value" notice. We don't paper over genuine ambiguity to make pages look cleaner.

The team

Editorial policy

We have one editorial commitment: accuracy first. We will never publish a conversion we cannot verify against a primary source. If we discover an error after publication, we'll fix it the same day and note the correction in the page's revision history.

If you spot an error or have a suggestion, please contact us. We take corrections seriously and respond to every legitimate report.

Business model

ExpertCalculator is free to use. We earn revenue exclusively from non-intrusive display advertising (Google AdSense). We have no paid placements, no sponsored conversions, no affiliate links in our reference content, and no "premium tier." If you see an ad, it's served by Google's algorithm to all visitors; we have no influence over which advertiser appears.
