Accessibility Statement
ExpertCalculator is designed to be accessible to as many people as possible, including those who use assistive technologies. We aim for conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA across all pages.
1. Our commitment
We believe high-quality reference content should be available to everyone, regardless of ability or assistive technology. We design with accessibility in mind from the start: high colour contrast, large readable typography, keyboard-navigable interfaces, semantic HTML, and ARIA labels where helpful.
2. Features for accessibility
- Keyboard navigation — All calculators and interactive elements can be operated by keyboard alone (Tab, Enter, Arrow keys).
- Screen readers — Pages use semantic HTML5 (
<header>,<nav>,<main>,<article>) with appropriate ARIA labels for forms and navigation. Calculator labels are explicitly associated with their inputs. - Colour contrast — Body text meets WCAG AA contrast ratios (4.5:1 minimum). Interactive elements (links, buttons) exceed AA contrast at all states.
- Resizable text — Typography scales cleanly up to 200% browser zoom without horizontal scrolling or content loss.
- No motion-triggered content — The Site contains no animations that play automatically; no flashing or rapidly-changing visual content.
- Plain language — Explanations use plain English where possible; technical units include both symbols (cm) and full names (centimeter).
3. Known limitations
We are aware of the following limitations and are working to address them:
- Mathematical notation — Conversion formulas are presented as plain text. We do not currently use MathML or LaTeX rendering, which can be more semantically meaningful for screen readers of mathematical content.
- Third-party content (advertisements) — Google AdSense advertisements may not always meet WCAG standards. This is outside our direct control; we encourage Google to maintain accessibility in their advertising products.
4. Compatibility
The Site is tested on:
- Browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge — all current versions
- Operating systems: Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, Linux
- Screen readers: NVDA (Windows), VoiceOver (macOS/iOS), TalkBack (Android), JAWS (Windows)
Modern browsers and current versions of these screen readers should provide a smooth experience.
5. Reporting accessibility issues
If you encounter an accessibility issue, we want to hear from you. Please email hello@expertcalculator.in with subject line "Accessibility" and describe:
- The page where you encountered the issue (URL)
- The assistive technology you were using (screen reader, magnifier, voice control, etc.)
- What happened, and what you expected to happen
We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within two business days and to fix or formally respond within 30 days.
6. Continuous improvement
Accessibility is an ongoing effort, not a one-time checkbox. We test new pages and features against WCAG 2.1 AA before publication and review existing pages periodically. We welcome suggestions for improvement.
